Help For Heroes – Band of Brothers Bike Ride 2009

On the 24th May our crazy Offer Manager (who we don’t let out the cupboard too often) started out on the latest Global Direct Media charity challenge.

This year it is a 350 mile bike ride from Cherbourg to Paris. Charlie has chosen to join the Help for Heroes – Band of Brothers Bike Ride.

Around 300 like minded lunatics left Portsmouth on 24th May 2009 and finish in Paris on 29th May 2009.

The goal is to raise as much money as possible for a very worthy cause, helping injured service personnel to rebuild their lives.

The bike ride was organised by Help for Heroes. Many of you may have seen Major Phil Packer finish his mammoth London Marathon walk recently, and Marine Ben McBean – a double amputee running the London Marathon.

They too are supporting the charity that helped provide some of the facilities they used in their rehabilitation.

The ride followed the route of the D-Day landings, and in honour of the men that gave their lives in the liberation of France the cyclists visited allied cemeteries in Normandy for wreath laying ceremonies. American, British, Canadian, French Resistance, Polish and Special Forces were all honoured.

The ride culminates with the bike riders moving up the Champs Elysee pausing at the Arc de Triomphe to lay wreaths and then on to the Eiffel Tower.

Charlie has been taking the cycle training very seriously and has been crunching the miles for charity. So all we need to do now is show our support for the challenge and visit the fundraising page and help her reach her target.

Everyone at Global Direct Media and parent company unanimis are very proud of your achievements Charlie.
