As we get closer to the end of 2008 no doubt many people will be turning their attention to the annual ritual of making New Years Resolutions.

Most of the New Year Resolutions that I have made last a very short space of time, are usually made when I am drunk and therefore more likely to be off the wall.

That being said there is a subliminal thing that goes on in my head that does make me stop for a split second before ordering an extra portion of rice in the chinese restaurant, as I know I could do with losing a few pounds.

Many people will probably come up with some of the ones that you often see :

• Lose weight
• Get out of debt
• Get a better job
• Start eating correctly
• Get exercise
• Get a better education
• Stop smoking
• Drink less alcohol
• Start a new relationship
• Spend more time with family and friends
• Take a trip
• Start a business
• Volunteer time to do things for other

That’s good news for our affiliates as we have a number of offers that help people out (Acai Berry, Government Grants, Dating, Business Opportunities), and January is always a phenomenal time to capitalise on people’s desire to do good things for themselves and their family, so the likelihood of making plenty of money is very high.

I’ve had many a heated discussion that promoting some of the offers using affiliate marketing is exploitation of the weak. But, often it’s the shock treatment that helps people to change. That change takes a second to decide and then often a lifetime to achieve. Some people say that payday loans are extortion etc. but ultimately if people are not able to manage their finances it is not our position to become moralistic, we are there to provide a means for that person to resolve their immediate problem in a way that suits them.

As we get close to the end of the year, we took our cameras out and managed to record a message from our monarch. Sadly though this is no longer available.

She was very gracious to predict that the credit crunch was not going to have much impact on Web 2.0 which gave me a feeling of great comfort.

She also had a few kind words to say about the year ahead, about me personally (blush), which was very flattering. I guess it was either that or a knighthood!

This is of course was not the real Queen, but we wanted to take the time to thank all our advertisers, publishers and friends in the industry for all their support through 2008. Looking forward to a new and exciting 2009.

Our office will be closing early on Christmas Eve to allow all those who still need to buy Christmas presents to do their last minute shopping (like me). We will be open for business through the Christmas week and closed half day on New Years Eve.

Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat, please put a penny in the old man’s hat; if you don’t have a penny a ha’penny will do; If you haven’t got a ha’penny then God bless you!

Next week is the last full working week of 2008 before we all get stuck into turkey and all the trimmings and enjoy the holiday period…let’s make it count!

While enjoying the mulled wine and minced pies, remember it is the season of giving. Despite the economic climate, people are still finding it in the hearts to help those less fortunate than themselves, so that in mind, help us promote some of the great charity offers we have available and coming online in the next few days.
